In Andhra Pradesh, the vannamei #shrimp prices from farmers and vannamei suppliers from 30 to 60 pcs/kg HOSO counts remains steady since several weeks. Demand for these sizes is not strong at this time thus prices are not moving up.
Prices of 70 to 100 pcs/kg HOSO has increased INR 10/kg . In general supplies are tight but especially on small sizes which is currently in a great demand from processors and vannamei suppliers.
More farmers in Andhra Pradesh has been stocking for March/April. We are expecting better supply starting 60-90 days. Expect March harvests to begin with 70 pcs/kg and smaller. Into April we should see more 40-60 pcs/kg landing. Peak harvests should occur be sometime in May/June.
In Odisha and Kolkata, pond stocking expected to start early to mid Feb for harvesting and deliveries from vannamei suppliers beginning late April. Raw material volume from Odishsa and Kolkata for 2017 is likely to be somewhat higher that 2016, barring any major weather or disease issues.
