India Shrimp Market Update : August 11, 2015
Raw material prices remain mostly unchanged from the previous week except for 30 pcs/kg count. The price in Orissa and Kolkata is moving closer to the price in Andhra Pradesh due to strong demand. Landings in Orissa have dropped drastically as 70%-75% of the material from current crop has already been harvested. Therefore the current crop will be mostly finished by this month end and the new crop will start in September with landings expected on sizes 70 pcs/kg and smaller.
Landings in Kolkata are also expected finish towards the end of August.
Landing patterns in Andhra Pradesh remain the same, with main sizes as 16/20,21/25,26/30 and some 31/40 HLSO. These 4 sizes account for more than 80% of current total production. There may be some quantity of 41/50 and smaller in Andhra Pradesh over the next 2-3 weeks.
