Indonesia Shrimp Market Update : November 8, 2016
Indonesian expected/target production for vannamei shrimp up to end Q3 2016 was 378,326 MT. However, latest report from Indonesia Fishery Dept. estimating only 301,013 MT landed.
Since August supplies have been tight with many ponds affected by disease, particularly white spot and white feces virus.
Going forward large sizes will be in tight supply and expect prices for medium – small sizes to remain firm as packers will continue to by raw mat to keep plants running.
Indonesian price levels vs US market prices seem disconnected with Indonesian packers often unable to achieve the lower price levels US importers are indicating.
With current supply situation in Indonesia, we do not expect prices to move down over the next 60-90 days.
